THE AMERICAN LIBRARY POLICY
The American Library at NaUKMA is open to all visitors. All
services including items use in the reading-room are provided for the The
American Library members only.
| Library membership |
Any person over 16 years of age may apply for library
membership.
Membership for a year costs 15 hrn. To obtain a library card you should
present your passport and fill out the registration form. A valid
library card entitles you to use library services. It is valid during
the year from the date of your checking in. Any person who do not have
permanent residence in Kyiv or Kyiv region may use American Library
facilities but not may borrow books (*).
Please inform us if there is a change in your name, address or phone
number. Please report immediately if you happened to loose your library
card. You will not be held responsible for items borrowed at your card
after the lost was reported.
(*)Exceptions: In cause you are not permanent resident of Kyiv or Kyiv
region and youd like to borrow books you may bring reference from:
place of your permanent work in Kyiv
deans office, if you are a full-time student.

| Circulation |
Book loans are free of charge. Members may borrow four
books for two weeks. Loaned materials may be renewed . Items may be
renewed as long as they have not been requested by other borrowers and
the renewal limit (three times) is not exceeded.

You will need your library card number and Personal Identification
Number (PIN).

To renew items by telephone, call: 417 31 - 13
- In person
at the library location. Patrons should visit the library and bring
the books for this.
Materials that may not be borrowed include reference, periodicals,
art albums.

| Fines |
A 50 kopiykas fine is charged for any item not returned by the true day. There is a
one day grace period for any item. The maximum fine for the item is 20 hrn.
For damage or loss of a book, a fine of its ten time cost will be
charged. It is also possible to provide the library with the same or
appropriate book.

The American library at NaUKMA is
committed to provide free and open access to informational, educational,
recreational and cultural resources for library users of all ages and
backgrounds. Library staff will answer your questions and will help you
to navigate the Internet
American library Internet users may:
Use the Internet stations on a first-come, first-served basis. Users
are required to sign-in at the library desk
Sign-in directly or by phone 417-31-13
Take part in individual or collective consultations, training groups
for Internet use. |

| Time
Limits per Day |
A
library member has up to 1 hour on the Internet if others are waiting. A
library member has up to 2 hours maximum if no one is waiting. In order
to maximize availability of the Internet for all users, each individual
is limited to a total of 2 hours per day, regardless of how many
terminals are used. |

E-mail |
The American Library does not offer electronic mail accounts. You have
to use Internet only. You may use any free e-mail server for your
e-mail. |

Downloading You may not: |
You may use pre-formatted disks or USB flash drives. Your Internet
findings may be downloaded or e-mailed.
You may not: Use the library workstations to gain unauthorized access
to the Library networks or computer systems or to any other network or
computer system.
Make any attempt to damage computer equipment or software
Make any attempt to cause degradation of system performance
Use any library workstation for illegal or criminal purpose
Use Internet-games and chat-groups
Stay more than two persons at the workstation at the same time. |

Sanctions |
Violators of Internet station use policy may lose library privileges up
to one month. The library reserves the right to terminate an Internet
session at any time. Systematic violation of Library policy may cause
the users deprivation of Internet access

Eating, drinking, and smoking are not allowed in the library. Please do
not talk loudly in the library. Please do not bring radios, walkman or
mobile phone into the library.
